Using the Substitutes Panel

You can create and manage a list of substitute parts that can be used in a specific assembly. The Substitutes panel lets you manage the links between an item instance and substitute references.

Before you begin: Open a Manufacturing Assembly structure.
  1. Select a manufacturing item in the Manufacturing Assembly structure.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Manage Substitutes .
    An empty Manage Substitutes panel appears.
  3. Click Add New Substitute Relation in the panel.
    The Applicative Search is activated in the top bar and a small panel appears.

  4. Select one or more items in the work area or tree, or using the search facility.

    The Manage Substitutes panel is updated according to your selection.

    Note: A small icon appears on the tile of the initially selected item to indicate that substitutes are available.
  5. Optional: Select an item in the list of substitutes, then click Open in Current App in the panel.
    The item opens in the work area and also appears in the tree.
  6. Optional: Select an item in the list of substitutes, then click Open in New App in the panel.
    The item opens in a new tab.

Note:
  • You can delete substitutes using Delete in the panel.
  • You can filter substitutes using Edit Filters in the panel. A Filter section appears that lets you filter values on selected columns.
  • You can manage substitute attributes using Edit Attributes in the panel. An Attributes section appears that lets you hide/show columns of attributes.
  • You can manage panel preferences (status bar and messages) using Preferences in the title bar of the panel.
