Creating Operations with Explicit Attributes

You can create operations in the System Editor. There are choices depending on the Always display interactive dialog for attributes option. You can choose to define attribute values in a dialog box each time you create an operation or use default values.


Before you begin: Make sure that the Always display interactive dialog for attributes option is defined the Me > Preferences > Content Access > Identification tab.

Open your session content in your app.

  1. Right-click the system tile on the grid, or the system node in the tree and click Insert > Create General Operation.
    The General Operation dialog box appears. It provides access to the main attributes of the operation to be created.
    General Operation tab:
    • Name
    • Title
    • Description
    • Applicability Date
    • Time Mode (for more information, see Operation Properties: Time Mode)
    • Estimated Time
    • Measured Time
    • Material Scrap
    • Value Added Ratio on Estimated Time (for more information, see Value Added Information)
    • Roll up: If define as True, the parent operation's time is calculated from the times of its child operations. If defined as False, the actual time defined on the parent operation is seen in the Gantt chart, and not the time computed from its child operations.
    Configuration tab:

  2. Enter any required attribute values and click OK.
    The operation is created in the System Editor with the assigned attribute values.
  3. Continue to add operations to the system structure in the same way, defining the attribute values for each operation.
  4. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Header Operation. Then, select a parent in the system structure where you want to create the operation.

    Note: You can select any other operation type by selecting the corresponding command.

    This runs the Header Operation dialog box. Click OK to create the Header Operation in the tree.

Note:
  • You can create operations in the Process Gantt. For more information, see Operation Creation.
  • If the Always display interactive dialog for attributes option is not defined in the Me > Preferences > Content Access > Identification tab, the attributes dialog box does not appear when creating an operation. The operation is created with default values.
  • The attributes of an operation can be modified at any time by right-clicking the operation tile or tree node and selecting Properties. For more Information, see Using the System Editor.
