Human Interface Editor Dialog Box

This position the human interface with respect to the selected product, edit the dimensions of the human interface, define the orientation.

To access the dialog box, select Human Interface and click the product.

Note: Exiting the created human interface it hides. A human interface only becomes visible when you are editing a human interface or creating an action and looking for a target human interface.

This page discusses:

Human Interface Editor

Name
In the edit panel, a name's editor is where you can modify the name of the human interface. A default name it automatically selects, or enters in a name.
Target

Typically in Ergonomics at Work scenarios, the product is locked. The user does not have the rights to modify the product. Detailing of human tasks involves the creation of Human Interfaces within the macro commands like GET/REACH. In such cases, the parent of the Human Interface is always the first Organizational Resource above the Human. This is the default behavior. There is no change at all for Human Interfaces and Human Locations created in older versions of the software. They are displayed in the spec tree and remain instantiated under products you can use.

  • Integration with Manufacturing setup: A human interface creates with a target being the product inside the Manufacturing setup and the owner being the manufacturing setup root.
  • For a product in a Product: A human interface creates and with the target being the product selected. The owner being the first Organizational Resource above the human and change owner disables.
Owner
The product / 3D Part on which a Human Interface / Location kind of information adds to highlight areas of interest. Also called pointed product / 3D Part or parent.
Type
Select the type, sphere, disk, cylinder or axis position, and if it orientates, activate the crate. Example, if you want to place an interface on the cylinder select the cylinder and then the orientation. This shows a black line representing the orientation. Select the Robot to rotate accordingly so the hand places on the cylinder/glass correctly.
Size of Human Interfaces
The size of the Human Interfaces defines by dragging on the ruler or entering a value directly within the result zone (here clicking the 30mm word for example).

Edit the dimensions directly in the dialog box:

  • Change the radius of a sphere.
  • Change the radius of a disk.
  • Change the radius and the height of a cylinder.

Disk and cylinders may have a preferred orientation, represents by a line. This is useful when applying a skill.

OK, the resulting dimensions store within this new Human Interface object, and retrieves automatically when the Human Interface gets edited again. At that point, the rulers appear.

Note: Do not use the Rulers for the Human Locations (that are similar to the Interface) because their dimensions are not usable or editable.

Preferred Skill

Save a preferred skill on an Interface. A preferred skill is not mandatory. It is very useful for specifying which the most likely skill applies is (for example, contact with foot on a pedal).

Dependent on the type selected, click to open the Available Skills dialog box

For select:

  • Contact hand
  • Contact index power
  • Contact index precision
  • Contact sole
  • Contact thumb
  • Contact toes
  • Look at

  • Power medium grasp
  • Power ring grasp
  • Power small grasp
  • Power twist pinch
  • Precision 3 fingers pinch
  • Precision 4 fingers pinch
  • Precision stick pinch
  • Precision ventral grasp

For add these to some of the list:

  • Power 3 fingers grasp
  • Power 4 fingers grasp
  • Power spherical grasp

Display Skills from a selected library .
This brings up the Object Selection search window to search for a skill in a library. Double-click to select:

OK, Apply, Close

OK
This accepts the settings and closes the dialog box.
Apply

Saves current settings.

There are two ways of positioning the human interface with respect to the selected product:

  • The Robot automatically snaps to the human interface to move and rotate the human interface. An automatic recognition feature also helps to facilitate the selection of planes and lines.
  • Clicking a plane or a line automatically snaps the human interface to that location.

These two modes can combine for greater use of positioning. First you can snap quickly the human interface to a given geometric element, and then the position can be fine-tuned (for example when there is an offset) with the Robot.

Then create or edit one human interface, and switch to the creation or editing of another. Keeps the settings of the previous one by clicking Apply before the switch.

Leaving the command does an automatic Apply on the latest selected human interface.

Close
This closes the dialog box, without saving.

Generalities of the Manikin Interface or Location

Edition Scenario
  • When editing the existing Human Interface or the Location, you can change its parent. Know if this operation authorizes it or not.
  • In the case of a reusable Human Interface or Location, you can change it to context. Propagation may fail if you do not have the right to modify the owner.
  • In the case of a context of a Human Interface or Location, you can change it to reusable. Propagation may fail if you do not have the right to modify the owner.
Visual Representation

Reusable Human Interfaces or Locations are black and red. Inside the Ergonomics at work app, this kind of Human Interfaces and Locations is the default choice when the target is a Resource or Tool and Device.

Context Human Interfaces or Locations are black and yellow. Inside the Ergonomics at work app, this kind of Human Interfaces and Locations is the default choice when the Target is a Product.

Availability of Human Interfaces or locations

Reusable Human Interfaces or Locations store on the reference of the target, and are therefore available in any context where using the target.

Context Human Interfaces or Locations store in a given context, and are available in that context. They may be available in another context if the inverse link from owner to human interface / location resolves. That is if the parent is present in the environment.

3D XML Export
Human Interfaces or Locations export with their parent.
Versioning
Creating a new version of a product, which has Human Interfaces and or Human Locations generates a new product with no Human Interfaces and or Human Locations.

Behavior of the Human Interface Panel

  • This panel appears when selecting the Human Interface creation command or when double-clicking an existing Human Interface in the tree. It allows for the creation and editing of any human interface.
  • In this panel, change the name, the target product on which the Human Interface applies, the owner, and the place where the Human Interface saves. This is to avoid saving on read-only product data, and the type.
  • The OK creates or modifies the Human Interface, saves it, and closes the panel.
  • The Apply creates or modifies in the Edit mode the Human Interface but leaves the panel open so other modifications or another Human Interface can be created.
  • The close closes the panel without saving any modifications.
