You can use the Postural score to get the best posture for a manikin.

Maximizing for the Best Posture Score

You can maximize for the best postural score for a manikin.

Before you begin: Have a Manikin in your scenario.
Click Maximize for Best Postural Score .
This changes the position of the body to maximize the global postural score of the manikin to try and yield a perfect score. Use this if there is no preferred angles, or if the manikin is already in an optimal posture. The following message displays There are no preferred angles on this manikin.

Customizing Joints and Reviewing the Postural Score

This describes how to customize joints for the preferred angle reviewing the data in the Postural Score panel.

The goal is to group segments on the upper body (including the spine and the head). This creates a new segment for the Postural Score analysis and gives you more flexibility for analyzing the posture of the trunk. The general concept provides a tool that you can create virtual segments of the pelvis, trunk, neck, and head that you are able to edit preferred angles with a score.

  1. Click Customized Joint .
    Follow the procedure for Creating a Customized Joint in Joint Parameters Section (Posture Analysis.
  2. Select the Customized Segment to activate the Segment.
  3. Right-click in the gray shaded area to access the context menu.
  4. Click Add.

    Important: You can add Preferred Angles by using the current context menu command. The dialog box appears to edit zones. This dialog is the same as the standard segments. The Body Element field shows which segments are the reference of the customized Segment.

    Add the required number of customized segments by using the Close, and selecting Add again from the context menu.



  5. Click Angular limitation .
  6. From the Manikin tree, select the Lumbar.


    Note: A selection or creation of a customized preferred angle activates the arrows representing the current position (blue arrow) and the cumulative range of motions.

    The 0-degree position of any customized preferred angle defines when the body is standing straight (anatomical posture). The Preferred Angles editing and creation capability is available on this segment like the standard segments.

  7. Click the blue O deg, hold, and move the mouse for the manikin to lean over.

  8. Click Exit Application to return to the main work area.
  9. Click Opens the Postural Score Panel from the Analysis and Output action bar.

    The result of the Customized Preferred Angles displays in the Segments sections in both list and chart presentations.

    To view this DOF, in the DOF list window, select the DOF1 (abduction/adduction).

    The Customized Joint Result, Lumbar/Thoratic12 appears with the Angle(deg) of 21.29

    The results can be exported in a report with the preferred angles of standard segments.

    The Customized Preferred Angles is listed in the Preferred Angles Properties, tab as well.
