Creating and Using an Interaction Skill

Creates an Interaction Skill, which is a hand or fingers posture that uses to reach or grasp a part. You can create if an existing predefined skill (Grasp with hand, Reach with index, and others) does not fill the requirement needs.


Before you begin: Have a manikin in your scenario.
  1. Select the Manikin Data Library Manager then the Library tab.
  2. Click Create Item and select Interaction Skill .
  3. Click the Manikin.

    The Interaction Skill dialog box appears. See: Interaction Skill Dialog Box



  4. Click in the Name window and type in a new name.
    We selected Reach with index.
  5. Click Description window and type in a description.
    We selected the Right index - Disk.
  6. From the Interaction Parameters section, select the Type, Contact
  7. In the Interaction Objects section, select Disk.
  8. Click a Manikin Segment.
    The disk snaps to the manikin segment and the name appears in the Segment window in the dialog box. Modify the human interface as required to achieve the expected interaction skill. You can also use the manipulation tools to edit the segment's posture.

  9. Click Record/Modify in the Capture section once the position is achieved.
    The Interaction skill completes and stores in the Interaction Skill library. The temporary Human Interface deletes.
  10. Click OK.
    The Interaction Skill is saved in the Manikin Data Library Manager.
