Interaction Skill Dialog Box

The Interaction Skill dialog box appears when you select Interaction Skill.

To access the dialog box, select Interaction Skill from within the Manikin Data Library Manager then the Library tab.

This dialog box contains controls for:

Name
In the edit panel, a name's editor is where you can modify the name of the human interface. A default name automatically selects, or you can enter in a name.
Description
In the edit panel, a name's editor is where you can add a description.
Preview
Creating an Interaction skill, the Preview window activates.

Select:

  • Load Preview - opens a File Selection window to import a file.
  • Record Preview - Records a picture for preview.
  • Reset Preview - Resets the preview window.

Interaction Parameters - Type
Select the type:
  • Contact - Similar to a reach, the selected segment only reaches the Human Interface.
  • Grasp - The selected segment reaches the Human Interface and then grasps it.
Interaction Objects
  • Human Interface - A new human interface of the selected type (disk, cylindrical, and sphere) is displayed. It deletes when the Interaction Skill creation is completes.
  • Segment - During the Grasp type user-defined interaction skill creation, the right or left hand, index and thumb can be selected. The selection of any segment on the arm, the index, and considers the thumb automatically as a selection of the hand, the index, and the thumb tip respectively. All other segment selections show a Warning message indicating, Only the hands, the index, and the thumb can be selected and does not require highlighting the thumb segments.

    Note: In the Pinch, the thumb or the index reaches the human interface and not the hand anymore. The new Pinch intrinsic skill records with a new posture.

Capture - Posture
  • Interaction - The interaction posture is the only one that is used for the interaction. This posture is mandatory and once recorded OK is available.
  • Preparation - The preparation corresponds to the hand posture before executing the interaction. The hand is close to the human interface and its posture is close to the interaction. This posture is optional for the creation of a contact Interaction skill.

This defines the Preparation posture and once the hand is positioned, clicking the Record/Modify records, or modifies the posture.

When competed a picture is created which is stored in the Interaction Skills window.

Message

This gives you a message for using the Interaction Skill Editor.

OK

This accepts the settings and closes the dialog box.

Cancel

This closes the dialog box, without saving.
