Using Anthropometric Variables in an Expression

This describes how to use anthropometric variables and to change their values outside of the Anthropometry Editor.

Before you begin: The manikin displays with its Anthropometry.
  1. In the Tools action bar, click Formula .
  2. Click the manikin (or the parent product) from the tree if there is more than one, or not the active object. A filter applies and the list of all anthropometric variables for one or more selected manikins displays in the dialog box window.

With the dialog box, it is possible to create formulas between user-set variables and other parameters defined elsewhere in the environment. An example of this would be to have the manikin automatically adapt whenever another critical dimension in the environment changes.

Having anthropometric variables and human interfaces dimensions exposed as Knowledge Parameters enables you to drive those values through formulas, for example, or to include those values in formulas. The following attributes known as Knowledge parameters:

    • Manual anthropometric variables (read/write).
    • System anthropometric variables (read) - Anthropometric variables are available when selecting the manikin node, or any node below it.
    • Human interface dimensions (read/write) - Human interface dimensions are available when selecting a human interface feature.
      • Radius (always)
      • Height (for a cylinder)
      • Coordinates of the center
      • Coordinates of the normal vector
      • Coordinates of the orientation vector
