Optimizing or Resetting Angular Limitations

This describes how to specify the angular limitations of the selected segments so that these limitations correspond to the best range of motion. That is, the range of motion where the postural score is the highest.

See Using Angular Limitation Functionality for information on how to create preferred angles and assign scores to individual ranges of motion. This is particularly useful in restricting the manikin's movements in the comfort zone. The postural score of such a manikin stays at its highest, no matter how the manikin is moving.

If segments are selected, the Reset Angular Limitations dialog box shows only the angular limitations related to these segments. In addition, selecting or clear segments on the manikin while the Reset Angular Limitations dialog box is opened updates the multiple lists by adding or removing information.

Selecting no segments, the dialog box is empty until you make a selection. All changes made in the Reset Angular Limitations dialog box are applied when you click OK. Otherwise, no changes.

  1. Click Optimize Limitations .
  2. Select one or more required segments.
For each selected segment and for the current active degree of freedom, select the DOF. When this command is running, the posture of one or more segments may change to reflect the new angular limitations. Use this command to optimize the posture of the manikin as a whole. To do this, select the Body node in the tree before activating.
  3. For more details, see Postural Score from the Analysis and Output action bar.
  4. Click Reset Angular Limitations.

The Reset Angular Limitations dialog box appears.

  5. Select one or more segments to reset.
The information appears in the dialog box.
  6. Click Reset, and OK.
