Checking the Reachability of a Milling Machine

You can check that a milling machine reaches the workpiece at a specific tool position.

  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Mount and Import Resources .
  2. In the context toolbar, click Reachability Test .
  3. In the Tools Positioning dialog box that appears, specify any of the following parameters:
    OptionDescription
Tool Selection Selects a tool from a session, database, or catalog.
Tool Position Changes the tool position by directly modifying the position vector of the tool.

A simple click on the part in the work area changes the tool position.

Tool Orientation Changes the tool orientation by directly modifying the direction vector of the tool.

A long click on the part in the work area changes the tool orientation.

Normal Positions the tool on the mouse location and orientes it perpendicularly to the surface to be machined.
Tangent Positions the tool on the mouse location and orientes it tangentially to the surface to be machined.
Normal and Binormal angles Reorients the tool according to the specified normal and binormal angles.

    Only available in Normal mode.

Machine kinematics and collisions are checked. If the tool configuration is reachable in the environment, a check mark appears.
