Creating Geometry from the Tool Path

You can preview or create geometry from the tool path, that is points, vectors representing axis or tool geometry for measurement operations.

Before you begin: Start the Tool Path Editor as explained in Editing Tool Paths.
  1. Click Geometry creation .
The tool path and the dialog box are displayed.
  2. Place the pointer on Destination and select a destination body in the Activities Process Tree.
  3. Click one of the selection commands to select a portion of the tool path:

The first point of the tool path.

The last point of the tool path.

All the points between the first point of the tool path and the point picked.

All the points between the point picked and the last point of the tool path.

All the points between two points picked.

All the points of the tool path.
Note: You can also pick one point on the tool path.
  4. Define the Previsualization and creation parameters from selecting the type of the elements (one or several):
    • Points: Displays and creates points.
    • Areas:
      • Available if the type Points is selected, and if several points of the tool path are selected
      • Creates a join of lines from the portions of path selected.
    • Axes: Displays and creates tool axes (as points and lines).
    • Tools: Displays and creates tools (as revolves).
Important: If you want to only visualize the geometry, do not click Apply since it creates the elements of the type selected.

      Previsualization is updated accordingly.

    • Optional: Clear the Previsualization check box. This check box is selected by default, the elements of the types selected below and the points of the tool path are visualized. When you clear this check box, only the points of the tool path are visualized.
  5. Click Apply to create the geometry.
The element of the selected types are created in the destination body, under a geometrical set named after the machining operation.
  6. Click Close.
