Managing Activities in the Activities Process Tree

You can access and configure the Activities Process Tree in the docking area on the left side of the work area. You can also synchronize several manufacturing programs (when relevant) or edit the machining tolerance from the Activities Process Tree.

The Activities Process Tree contains:

  • There are four levels possible:
    • Part Operation
    • Manufacturing Program
    • Tool Change
    • Machining Operation
  • When relevant, the masks (not complete) or (not up-to-date) appear on the activity icons.
Note: Only one status mask is displayed on a given icon, the following status order being applied: inactive, locked, not complete, not up-to-date, video cgr.

By default, this tree proposes one column with the names of the activities and one with their computation status.

This task shows you how to:

Managing Activities

You can change activities in the Activities Process Tree.

  1. Optional: Select Me > Preferences > App Preferences > Simulation > Machining > NC Machining Apps Common Services > General and select the Update activity status automatically check box. Click OK.
The current status of the machining operation is automatically updated.
  2. Alternatively, right-click ? in the status column and select Display Status.
The current status of the machining operation is updated.
  3. Click Information and select an activity.
Information about this activity is displayed.
Tip: Navigate among the activities. The information field is updated with the information of the selected activity. Click again to hide the information field.
  4. When available, click Synchronization view for the active Part Operation.
Note: If there is only one manufacturing program or if they are in serial, this option is deactivated.
  5. To compute a tool path, select an activity and click Compute Tool Path then select the required option (Computation if necessary or Forced computation).
The tool paths under this activity are computed.
  6. To compute a tool path without lauching the simulation, click Display in the Activity Panel
The tool path is computed without launching the simulation.
Note: This command is only available for machining operations that contain a tool path.
  7. To compute a tool path and start the simulation, select an activity and click Simulate in the Activity Panel.
The tool path is computed and the simulation begins.
  8. Select an activity (manufacturing program, tool change, or machining operation) and click Remove Tool Path .
    The tool path is removed.
  9. Optional: To display the machine kinematic during simulation, click Enable Machine Kinematics .

Note: When this option is deactivated, the Enable Instant Replay check box in the NC Simulation Options tab of the Simulation Options dialog box is activated by default and the machine is hidden.

  10. Optional: To display material removal during simulation, click Enable Material Removal Computation During Machine Simulation .
  11. Select an activity and click Play in the Compass.
The experience player and the tool path line appear. The computed tool path appears on the product.
  12. In the Activities column, right-click an activity to access its context menu.

Note: When managing manufacturing scenarios in the Machining Validation app, the Activate/Deactivate Machine Kinematic and Enable Material Removal During Simulation options are not available. To enable machine kinematic and material removal during simulation, double-click a scenario in the Manufacturing Simulation tree. Then, select the Activate Machine Kinematic and Enable material removal check boxes in the Parameters tab of the Machining Scenario dialog box.

Displaying Activities

You can filter, order, and customize information by modifying the display in the tree .

  1. Click Select by String to highlight rows whose content correspond to a given text string.
    1. Enter any string in the Type field.
    2. Press Enter.
Activities with the corresponding attributes are displayed.
  2. Click Filter Manager to hide or show rows automatically.
    1. Optional: Enter a string in the text field to display only the attributes that contain that string.
    2. Click or to remove or apply a selected filter.
    3. Click Hide/Show All to remove or apply all filters

Note: Parent rows containing child rows whose attribute is not filtered out are still displayed in the Activities Process Tree.

Activities with the corresponding filtered attributes are displayed. When filtering is applied, the filter icon appears in the column header.
  3. Click Attribute Manager to open the attribute panel that displays a list of all the available attribute columns.
    1. Click Apply Hide/Show or to hide or show an attribute column.
    2. Click Hide/Show All Columns to hide or show all the attribute columns displayed in the tree.

Note: You cannot hide the column Display Name.

    3. Optional: Reorder columns using the up and down arrows.
  4. Click Preset Manager to save column orders and filters as preferred displays.
    1. Enter a name for the preset in the text field and click Create Preset .
    2. Click Save current PPR spreadsheet configuration to save any modifications made to a given preset.
    3. Click Delete Preset to delete the selected preset.
    4. Click Load Preset to load an existing preset.
    5. Click Reset current PPR spreadsheet configuration to revert to the original view (after having applied multiple filters, for example).

Exporting Content

You can export the contents of the Activities Process Tree to a .txt, .csv, or .tsv file format.

  1. Click Export Content to export the contents of the tree.
  2. Enter a file name.
  3. Specify a location.
  4. Specify the format of the file to be exported: .txt, .csv, or .tsv.
  5. Click Save.
