Replacing Imported Tool Resources or Machines

You can use the Replace Resources command to avoid duplicating tools, tool assemblies, or generic machines in the database when importing them. This command also allows you to replace the resources from the database based on specific search criteria. Replace Resources searches the database for imported tools, milling tool assemblies, and axial tool assemblies that satisfy search criteria defined in the Replace Resources.

Notes:
  • A tool is identical to another one if the selected criteria are identical
  • A tool assembly is identical to another one if:
    • They contain identical tools.
    • The selected assembly filter criteria are identical.
  • Both solid and insert tool holders are considered when searching for an identical tool.
  • Tools and tool assemblies can replace a tool, however only a tool assembly can replace another tool assembly.
  • Only key values are searched for Feeds and Speeds configurations.
  • Machines follow the same rules as tools. A machine is equivalent to an existing one in the database if all attributes are identical.

Before you begin: Have a manufacturing cell open (imported or created in the current session).
