Setting Up a Robot

You can import existing robots and robot devices in a robot cell containing a control equipment and motion controller.

Create a Control Equipment

You can create a control equipment to group several programmable resources, such as robot and robot devices.

Before you begin: Create a manufacturing cell.
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Existing Product or Resource .
  2. Search and select a robot and robot devices such as rails and tools using the Search of the Top Bar.
    The robot and robot devices appear under the manufacturing cell.
  3. Select the manufacturing cell.
  4. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Control Equipment .
  5. In the Control Equipment dialog box, enter any desired attribute values.
  6. Click OK when done.

The control equipment appears in the tree.



Create a Motion Controller

You can create a motion controller to drive the robot devices, such as rails or tools.

Before you begin: Create a control equipment.
  1. Select a control equipment.
  2. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Motion Controller .
  3. In the Motion Controller dialog box:
    1. Select the device to be controlled.
    2. Set the Controlled option to Yes.
    3. Select the type of auxiliary device from the Usage list.
    4. Click OK when done.

A mount point is created for the selected device in the Resource Configuration View.



Mount a Device on a Robot

You can mount a device such as an effector, on a robot.

Before you begin: Create a control equipment and motion controller.
  1. In the Resource Configuration View, right-click a mount point and select Mount.
  2. Select the device to mount in the list that appears.
  3. In the Mount dialog box:
    1. Select a device from the list on the left.
    2. Select a motion group that the device will belong to from the list on the right.
    3. Optional: Select the Fixed TCP check box to specify if the tool is fixed or moves with the robot.
  4. Optional: Repeat the steps above for other robot devices.

The device is mounted on the robot. You can now create a drilling and riveting operation.
