Replacing an Object in the MBOM

You can replace an operation in the MBOM. This action automatically updates scope links and implement links associated with the object.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Create a structure with at least one child operation, and open it in the Processes & Operations view of the dashboard.
Important: The parent operation must be in a read-write maturity state. If not, select it and click Maturity from the Lifecycle section of the action bar.

Replace an Object with Its Latest Revision

You can replace an operation with its latest revision from the database.

  1. From the Processes & Operations view, select a child operation.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by Latest .

The selected operation is replaced with its latest revision. Scope links and implement links are automatically updated.

Replace an Object with an Existing Object

You can replace an operation with an existing one from the database.

  1. From the Processes & Operations view, select a child operation.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by Existing .
  3. In the dialog box, enter the criteria for an existing operation in the database and click Search.
  4. Select the desired operation and click OK.

The operation is replaced. Scope links and implement links associated with the original operation are automatically updated.

Replace an Object with a New Revision

You can replace an operation with a new revision that you create on the fly.

  1. From the Processes & Operations view, select a child operation.
  2. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Replace by New Revision .

A new revision is created and replaces the selected operation. Scope links and implement links are automatically updated.
