Editing Variant Effectivity

You can define variant effectivity based on variants and option groups from multiple models. You can also edit previously defined variant effectivity.

  1. Select an object whose root has a configuration context.
  2. From the Configuration section of the action bar, click Edit Variants and Options .
    A dialog box appears, showing the selected models and the variants and options.
  3. In the search box, search for the required variants and options.
    If you select a variant, the variant and all its variant values are added to the Variant/Option Expression box.

    If you select an option group, the option group and all its options are added to the Variant/Option Expression section. If you select a variant value or an option, only the variant value or the option is added to the Variant/Option Expression section.

  4. Select the check boxes corresponding to the variants or option groups, variants, and options to create a combination.
    Tips:
    • After you select a combination in a column, an empty column is added by default. Click to add more columns.
    • Click to activate multiselection mode.
    • In multiselection mode, click to duplicate the selected combinations.
    • Click to remove the selected combinations, or to remove all combinations.
    • Click to remove the selected a variant, option group, variant value, or option.
    • The created combinations are added to the Variant/Option Expression section.
      • Combinations are shown separated by OR.
      • Variant values or options from the same variant or option group are shown separated by /.
      • Variant values or options from different variants or option groups are shown separated by +.
  5. Click OK to validate.
    The variant effectivity is edited for the instance of the selected object.
