Generating a Production Drawing

You can generate a production drawing and BOM XML for a selected manufacturing assembly. Each view of the drawing can have its own viewpoint and sheet name.

This task shows you how to:

Define the Extraction Level

You can define the extraction level of the production drawing.

  1. In the Authoring section of the action bar, click Extract Assembly Drawing .

    The Extract Production Drawing panel appears.
  2. Select the root manufacturing assembly.
  3. Click the added content from the top frame of the panel.
    A list of sub manufacturing assemblies appears in the bottom frame of the panel.
  4. Double-click the value of the Level of the top frame.
    The modified position is Frozen.
  5. Change the value of Level.
    The list of sub manufacturing assemblies updates according to the value that specifies.

Create a Different Viewpoint

You can define a different viewpoint for each view.

  1. Click a sub manufacturing assembly from the bottom frame of the panel.

    The resulting product is shown in the Auxiliary Viewer.
  2. Change the viewpoint of the Auxiliary Viewer .
  3. Click Freeze Position .
    The viewpoints of the selected sub manufacturing assembly and its child manufacturing assemblies are Frozen.
    Note: Clicking Freeze Position again removes the Frozen viewpoint and return to the default viewpoint.
  4. You can optionally:
    • Select Generate BOM XML to generate a BOM XML that is attached to the selected manufacturing assembly.
    • Select Open WD after extraction to automatically open the Open Workshop Document panel after the documents have been generated.
  5. Click OK.

Create a Different Sheet

You can specify a different sheet for each view.

  1. In the bottom frame of the panel, double-click the sheet name of a sub manufacturing assembly.

    The sheet name becomes editable.
  2. Edit the name of the sheet.
    Creates this view in the different sheet corresponding to the name.
  3. Click OK.

Open a Production Drawing

You can view the generated workshop documents for the selected manufacturing assembly.

  1. Select a manufacturing assembly for extracting a production drawing.

  2. In the Authoring section of the action bar, click Open Workshop Documents
    The Open Workshop Documents panel appears.
  3. Click one or more contents from the panel.
  4. Click OK.
