Creating PPR Objects from a Profile or Options

You can use the Create From command for duplicating one or more PPR objects and their related structures according to a profile or options proposed in a dialog box. The PPR objects can be items, systems or operations, and resources.

For example, you can reuse the item and system structures of an existing product in a new structure while keeping links between systems and operations.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: A PPR structure must be present in the Manufacturing Context Builder spreadsheet view.

Create PPR Objects from Proposed Options

You can create PPR objects and related structures according to the options proposed in the Duplicate dialog box.

  1. From the PPR Navigation section of the action bar, click Create From .
  2. Select one or more PPR objects in the spreadsheet view.
    The Duplicate dialog box appears.
  3. Click Next in the dialog box.
A number of options are presented in the dialog box. The proposed options depend on the type of selected PPR objects.
  4. Select the required options.
  5. Click Finish.
A message is issued to indicate if the duplication is successful or not. If successful, the duplicated PPR objects and related structures are opened in a new tab.
Note: It is possible to select two or more different types of PPR objects. In this case, options are proposed for each object type. For example, you can choose to keep or ignore links between the selected objects.

Create PPR Objects from a Profile

You can create PPR objects and related structures according to a profile. A profile is an xml file that specifies a number of options. Sample profiles are available at ..\resources\xml\DNBPPRCreateFromProfiles. You can create a profile by copying an example and changing the IsChecked value.

  1. From the PPR Navigation section of the action bar, click Create From .
  2. Select one or more PPR objects in the spreadsheet view.
    The Duplicate dialog box appears.
  3. From the list in the dialog box, select the required profile.
  4. Click Finish.
A message is issued to indicate if the duplication is successful or not. If successful, the duplicated PPR objects and related structures are opened in a new tab.

Notes:
  • Duplicating the parent node duplicates all the visible children under it.
  • Duplicating a node with one or more "Keep links" options selected links the duplication to any object to which the original object was linked.
  • When duplicating together objects of different types that are linked with implement or scope links with a "Keep links" option selected, the newly created duplications are linked to each other and not to the original objects.
  • For example, if an item and a system linked by an implement link are duplicated together with the Keep implement links to items structure option selected, then the duplicated system is linked to the duplicated item and not to the original item.
