Configuration Management

You can assign configuration to System and Operation.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Installing Configured Engineering to benefit from configuration management capabilities. For more information, refer to the Configured Engineering User's Guide.

Define Session Effectivity

You can define the session effectivity for different apps.

  1. The Data Model Customization web app, create a configuration Model and define the effectivity value.
  2. Open the Properties panel from the root system.
    The Properties panel appears.
  3. Click Attach Model as a Configuration Content in the Configuration tab.
  4. From the model, select the Search.


  5. Click Unit for Criteria in the dialog box.
  6. Click Authoring Context from main viewer.
    Authoring Context panel appears.

  7. Select Session Effectivity.
    Define Session Effectivity panel appears.
  8. Click Start Define and search the Model.


  9. Select the effectivity value to assign to System and Operation.


Generate System with Session Effectivity

You can generate an MBOM using Session Effectivity.

  1. Click Generate Systems By Catalog from the Authoring section of the action bar.
    The Generate Systems By Catalog panel appears.
  2. Specify the System Schema and select the root System.
    The selected product appears in the Generate MBOM panel.

  3. Click OK.
    Creates systems under the root System. And the root system has its configuration model, so, this configuration model automatically copies to the children Systems.

Generate Operation with Session Effectivity

You can generate an operation with the session effectivity.

  1. Click Generate Operation By Catalog from the Authoring section of the action bar.
    The Generate Systems By Catalog panel appears.
  2. Click Compute.
    The Generate Operations By Catalog panel shows the computed result.

  3. Click Finish.
    Generates operations under the corresponding Systems and Session Effectivity applies.
