Refining the Experience Context

You can create filters in session to hide objects from the 3D view and the Gantt view. There are two types of filters: the selection filters based on asset selection, and the tag filters based on tags.

This task shows you how to:

Create a Selection Filter

You can create a selection filters directly from the 3D view or the Asset Gantt using the context menu.

  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Filters .
    The Filters panel opens.
  2. Choose one of the following options:
    • From the 3D, right-click an asset.
    • From the Asset Gantt, right-click an asset in the Resource column.
  3. From the context menu, click Hide Asset.
    The asset is hidden and a new filter named Filter [Asset_Name] is created in the Filters panel previously opened.
  4. From the Filters panel, click the switch to hide or show the asset.
    When the switch is blue, the filter is activated and the asset is hidden in the 3D and Gantt views. On the contrary, when it is gray, the filter is deactivated and the asset is visible in the 3D and Gantt views (if no other filters hide it).

Create a Tag Filter

You can create tag-based filters using the Create Tag Filter command.

Before you begin: Define the Asset Mapping. For more information, see Operations Experience Builder User's Guide: Getting Started: Authoring an Experience: Defining Asset Mapping.
  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Create Tag Filter .
    The Tag Filter Definition panel opens.
  2. Enter a name and from the Available Tags lists, select the tags.

    Note: For example, select the Type to filter all objects of the same type.

  3. Click OK.
    The mapped objects are hidden and a new filter named Filter [Given_Name] is created in the Filters panel.
  4. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Filters .
    The Filters panel opens with the newly created filter.
  5. From the Filters panel, click the switch to hide or show the objects.
    When the switch is blue, the filter is activated and the objects are hidden in the 3D and Gantt views. On the contrary, when it is gray, the filter is deactivated and the objects are visible in the 3D and Gantt views (if no other filters hide it).

Organize Filters with Filter Groups

You can group several filters together. Filtering is applicable for all filters at the same time, as well as for each filter individually.

  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Filters .
    The Filters panel opens.
    Note: By default, the Default Group already exists.
  2. Click the plus icon.
  3. Enter a name and press Enter.
    The new group appears in the panel.
  4. Drag a filter and drop it into the Drop Filters Here area of the group.
    The filter is moved to the group.
    Note: You can drag filters from one group to another according to your needs.
  5. Click the switch in the group header to hide or show all objects linked to the filters under the group.
    When the switch is blue, the filter group is activated and the objects are hidden in the 3D and Gantt views. On the contrary, when it is gray, the filter group is deactivated and the objects are visible in the 3D and Gantt views (if no other filters hide it).
    Note: Filtering is still applicable for each filter individually. Turn off the switch in the group header, then turn on the switch for filters individually.
Tips:
  • Click the pen icon to turn on the edit mode: this allows you to delete filters and groups of filters by clicking the Delete icon. Similarly, click the crossed-out pen icon to turn off the edit mode.
  • Click Save filters updates and press Ctrl + S to save your filters for next sessions.
