Comparing Fasteners that might be Modified in Design Changes

You can compare fasteners that are modified due to changing design demands. It is required to make necessary changes in the resource program and their related features. This requires you to identify what is modified and based on that decide what action is required.

  1. Click the BI Essentials from Tools Action bar.
  2. Select Manufacturing Product Status.
A standard Manufacturing Product Status wizard comes up and shows the product in a color coded tree. See Using B.I. Essentials in NC Machining
  3. Click Synchronize Data with Planning to update based on the requirements with the right change.
A representation is created under the created manufacturing product. For each design fastener instantiated from the planning data, a manufacturing fastener is created under this representation. Then for each kind a design fastener, a manufacturing pattern is created to group the corresponding manufacturing fasteners.
  4. Click Select a Task, Organizational resource or Manufacturing product.
The Synchronize data with Planning dialog box appears.
  5. Click to highlight the required data.
  6. Click Update manufacturing fasteners or Update manufacturing fasteners and patterns.
The pattern modification user interface appears based on the machining app logic. In the case of design changes this allows:
    • Identity impacts on manufacturing fasteners with BI Essentials:
      • Impacted manufacturing patterns will be displayed (like in machining). If a mfg pattern is no impacted by the change (i.e. which is valid and does not required any update), it will not be displayed.
      • On this pattern display, associated manufacturing fasteners are colored with the right status:

Yellow: Manufacturing Fastener Tag with parameters need to be updated.

Blue: Manufacturing Fastener Tag which is not in the right position.

Red: Manufacturing Fastener Tag that needs to be removed.

In case a pattern needs to own a new Manufacturing Fastener Tag, it will be entirely colored in yellow.

    • Update the manufacturing fasteners and associated patterns in Synchronize data with Planning. Two options are available in the combo:
      • Update manufacturing fasteners:
        • Parameters of Manufacturing Fastener Tag associated with modified fastener are updated.
        • Origin of Manufacturing Fastener Tag associated with moved fastener is updated.
        • Manufacturing Fastener Tag which does not refer any Manufacturing Fastener Tag is deleted.
        • Manufacturing Fastener Tag is created and linked to new fasteners.
      • Update manufacturing fasteners and patterns:
        • Do the previous actions on manufacturing fasteners.
        • Create new Manufacturing pattern for new type of Manufacturing Fastener Tag.
        • Move Manufacturing Fastener Tag for one pattern to another (in case of change of type).
