Adding Regions

You can create regions on a part. Defining regions is useful if you plan on generating different slicings or scan paths on a specific volume of a part.

Before you begin: Define your working environment. For more information, see Defining Your Working Environment.
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Build Layout .
  2. In the dialog box that appears, click Part Region under Parts to Position.
  3. In the Surfaces Regions Preparation dialog box that appears, click Add Region and specify the following parameters:
    1. Name: Specify the name of the region.
    2. Type: Specify the type of the region, Part, Part with Lattice (only available for regions with lattice bodies), or Designed Support.
    3. Tolerance: Specify the tolerance.
  4. To associate a part to the created region, click Select Body and do one of the following:
    • Select a volume from the manufacturing cell.
    • Select a volume directly on the part in the work area.
The selected volume is associated to the region.
  5. Click OK to validate your selection.

The region is created and your changes have been saved.
