Importing from Planning

You can import a part, machine and accessories previously defined in manufacturing planning.

Only resources (machine and accessories) with one or more ports defined can be imported.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • Open the PPR Context defined in manufacturing planning. The manufacturing content is present under the PPR Context but needs to be imported.
  • Set the manufacturing cell containing the content to import as the Active Simulation Object (ASO). For more information, see Common Services for Manufacturing Simulation Apps User's Guide: 3D Simulation and 3D Animation: 3D Simulation Environment and Tools: Selecting the Active Simulation Object.

Import a Machine and Accessories

You can import resources, such as a machine and accessories, defined in manufacturing planning using Insert Capable Resources.

In our example, the manufacturing cell containing the content to import is Additive A.1.

  1. Open a PPR Context defined in manufacturing planning, similar to the one below.

  2. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Insert Capable Resources .
A dialog box appears, listing the machine and accessories assigned to the manufacturing cell. By default, the machine and accessories are selected for import.
  3. Click OK to import the machine and accessories.

A manufacturing program (Machining Programs_Behavior) is created. The machine and accessories appear under the Additive A.1 manufacturing cell and the accessories are automatically mounted on the machine.

Import a Part

You can import a part defined in manufacturing planning using Synchronize Data with Planning.

In our example, the manufacturing cell containing the content to import is Additive A.1.

  1. Open a PPR Context defined in manufacturing planning, similar to the one below.

  2. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Synchronize Data with Planning.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, click Select and in the tree, select a planning operation such as Scan Path A.1.

The part assigned to the planning operation is listed in the dialog box.
Note: Powder cannot be imported. If powder is listed in the dialog box, deactivate the import by selecting the powder then None from the Action list.
  4. Click OK when done.

A manufacturing product is created under the manufacturing cell. The part also appears in the work area.
