Creating Hole Features Automatically

You can automatically recognize holes by selecting eligible parts, or by selecting topologically connected faces that can form a hole.


Before you begin: Create a machining setup and assign a machine.
  1. From the Axial Machining Section section of the action bar, click Automatic Hole Search .
  2. In the Hole Feature Recognition dialog box that appears, select one of the following options:
    • Recognize All Holes on Part: Design parts that are defined as a part of the manufacturing setup are selected by default.
    • Recognize by Selection: Select Match by Topology to recognize holes based on topology alone, or select Match by Dimension to recognize hole based on topology and dimension
  3. Click Search to recognize eligible holes.
    The number of eligible holes is displayed.
  4. Click Create to create the recognized features.

    Note: Existing features are not recognized.

    The Hole Recognition Report panel is displayed. From the Part Name list, select a part to verify the feature information. Select a feature in the Feature Information section to highlight it in the work area.
  5. Click OK to validate the recognized features.

The recognized features are created as Machinable Axial Features and are displayed in the Manufacturing View.
