3D Animation File-based Design Import

File-based Design Import (FBDI) enables content migration from V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE.

This page discusses:

V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE Data Import Table

The following tables describe import correspondences between V5 file-based data and 3DEXPERIENCE content.

The statuses for import results are fully imported, partially imported, and not imported (-).

Importing V5 Simulation Activities or Replay Objects in Process Documents

V5 simulation objects consist of two types: choreographic actions and animation objects. The choreographic actions in V5 are the visibility actions, viewpoint actions, and text actions. The animation object is the simulation replay. These objects can be imported into V6.

V5 Data Type 3DEXPERIENCE Content Type Import Result
Visibility Action (color and opacity) Color Action If V5 visibility contains color and opacity changes in the product, those changes are converted into a 3DEXPERIENCE color action.
Visibility Action (show/hide) Visibility Action If V5 visibility contains a visibility change (i.e., show or hide) in the product, those changes are converted into 3DEXPERIENCE visibility action.
Text Action Text Action In a V5 text action, you cannot set the color for the text. As a result, the V5 text action is migrated to 3DEXPERIENCE with a default color value.
Viewpoint Action Viewpoint Action The V5 viewpoint action contains only one shot, whereas 3DEXPERIENCE can store multiple viewpoint shots. The migrated V5 viewpoint is converted to single shot 3DEXPERIENCE viewpoint activity.
Replay Animation The compilation of simulation containing changes in position, color, visibility, and viewpoint. The 3DEXPERIENCE animation object is the Replay Simulation object in V5.

Importing V5 Actions or Replay Objects in Product Documents

When you import a V5 product document with choreography actions (e.g., color actions) in V6, a manufacturing simulation object is created with a 3DEXPERIENCE version of the product as the context.

The choreography actions are imported and stored under the excitations node of the manufacturing simulation object. The replay objects from the V5 Product Document are imported and stored under the 3DEXPERIENCE version of the product.

The table below summarizes the FBDI import status for choreography actions and replay objects.

V5 Data Type 3DEXPERIENCE Content Type Import Result
Color Action Color Action Fully imported.
Multi-shot Color Action Color Action Partially imported.

The last recorded color shot of the V5 Multi-shot color action is imported. The remainder shots are not imported

Visibility Action Visibility Action Fully imported.
Replay Replay Fully imported.

For each replay object in the applicative containers of the V5 document, a corresponding animation object is created in 3DEXPERIENCE with the same name and is stored in an animation representation that is created as a child of the 3DEXPERIENCE product.
