Creating a Roughing Operation

You can create a Roughing operation, i.e. a machining operation used to rough-machine parts by horizontal planes.


Before you begin:
  • The computation rules for the tool path that apply to the Part, the Check and the Fixtures do not apply to the Rough Stock.
  • The Hide/Show status of the sub-elements of a Body or an OpenBody are not taken into account.

Roughing
  1. From the Surface Machining section of the action bar, click Roughing .
    A Roughing entity is added to the manufacturing program. The dialog box opens at the Geometry tab .
  2. Select the required geometry.

    The Part and the Rough stock geometry are compulsory. All of the other parameters are optional.

    1. Click the red Part area in the sensitive icon and select the part in the work area.
    2. Double-click anywhere in the work area to confirm your selection and redisplay the dialog box.
    3. Select the Rough stock the same way.


  3. Select the Tool tab to choose a tool.
  4. Click Display or Simulate to check the validity of the machining operation.
    • The tool path is computed.
    • A progress indicator is displayed.
    • You can cancel the tool path computation at any moment before 100% completion.


  5. Click OK in the Display or Simulate dialog box, and again in the main dialog box to create the machining operation.
    The tool path is created.
