Introduction to Body in White Programming

Body in White is the automobile manufacturing process in which a car body’s is joined together by a large number of fasteners. These fasteners can be any combination of spot welds, rivets, or other fastener hardware. Modern assembly plants use robots to apply these fasteners.

Virtual manufacturing software allows users to optimally plan the fastening process using Process Engineering tools and leverage this planning information as the basis for robot production program generation.

Process Engineering

Process Engineering provides manufacturing communities throughout the supply chain with comprehensive 3D process and resource planning solutions for creating and optimizing build-to-order and lean production manufacturing systems.

These solutions provide a comprehensive process and resource planning support environment to create a clear overview of the sequences and links between all assets early in process conception and intellectual property (IP) creation. Collaborative communities identify and resolve issues early in the development process by managing process plans from logical to functional definition using actual product geometry in a single native environment.
