Drill-Rivet Profile Dialog Box

This document describes the Drill-Rivet Profile dialog box, which appears when you select Create Drill-Rivet Profile from the Drill Fill section of the action bar.

The Drill-Rivet profile is an applicative profile of a robot controller. It defines the parameters used in the motion of the robot and the tool during the Drilling and Riveting process.

This dialog box contains the following controls:

This page discusses:

Name
The name of the profile. The default name is generated based on the Process Type selected.
Controller
The name of the controller for the selected robot.

Cycle parameters

Process Type
The following process types are available:
  • Drill
  • Rivet
  • Drill-Rivet
  • C-Frame Rivet
Precycle Feature
Options available:
  • None is available for all process types.
  • Hole is available for Drill, Drill-Rivet.
  • Rivet is available for Rivet, Drill-Rivet.
  • Bolt is available for Rivet, Drill-Rivet.

Drill tab - Tool

Type
Specifies the type of tool. Select from:
  • Servo, where the tool is an Auxiliary device to the robot.
  • Independent, where the tool is an independent device.
Approach Direction
Select a direction for the approach from:
  • +X
  • +Y
  • +Z
  • -X
  • -Y
  • -Z
Tool Kin Simulation
When enabled, simulates the kinematics of the tool.

Drill Tab - Stages

Three stages in Drill-Rivet for each point.

  • Approach
  • Drill-Cycle, Rivet-Cycle, or Drill-Rivet Cycle, based on the selected Process Type.
  • Retract

Approach tab

The Approach tab appears when Approach is selected in the Stages section.

It provides parameters for:

  • Accuracy Profile
  • Motion Profile
  • Approach Clearance

Drill Cycles tab

Name lists one or more cycles that can be selected based on the current Process Type

  • Drill (available for Drill and Drill-Rivet)
  • Countersink (available for Drill and Drill-Rivet)
  • Rivet/Bolt (available for Rivet and Drill-Rivet)

Type, Joint, Start Position, and Joint Direction values are editable only when Tool Kin Simulation is selected.

Select a cycle in the Name column to display parameters for:

  • Accuracy Profile
  • Motion Profile
  • Tool Profile
  • Depth appears when the cycle Type is Drill.
  • Breakthrough Distance appears when the cycle Type is Drill.
  • Distance appears when the cycle Type is Fasten.
  • Hold Time appears when the cycle Type either Drill or Fasten.

Drill cycles can be reordered in the list by selecting a cycle and moving it up or down .

adds a User cycle after a selected cycle in the list. You can rename the cycle when it is added to the list.

removes a selected User cycle from the list. Only User cycles can be removed.

Retract tab

The Retract tab appears when Retract is selected in the Stages section.

It provides parameters for:

  • Accuracy Profile
  • Motion Profile
  • Retract Distance
