About OPC Unified Architecture Information Panel

OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) is usually the most standard communication protocol for virtual commissioning purposes.

This page discusses:

OPC UA is an IEC standard (IEC 62541). This communication protocol uses to exchange information between industrial equipment in the automation field (real machine, PLC, emulator, HMI, ...). Systems Experience Validation plays the role about interoperability between industrial systems (supervision, manufacturing execution systems, ...) and virtual line models. Systems Experience Validation is able to act as server or client.

The Define OPC Server parameters is in the Setup section and it is available only when there is a scope link between root item and system. The OPC UA Information Panel lets you manage the connections depending on the modes.

For more information, see: 3D Modeling | Systems Integration | Systems Experience Validation | Managing OPC UA Information Panel

View Mode

In view mode, you can visualize the list of defined servers, if some specify.

Edit Mode

In edit mode, you can define which servers you can connect to as client.

Execution Mode

Depending on the role acted by Systems Experience Validation, when an execution starts, you can:

  • Launch an OPC UA server.
  • Connect to one or more OPC UA servers.
