Pedal Test

You can test the reachability of a pedal so that you can validate the interior design and pedal layout. This is using the accelerator in depressed, cruise, and relaxed positions for different manikins.


Before you begin: You have defined a package and applied posture predictions to a manikin within the package.

  1. Click Pedal Test .
  2. Select a valid Posture Prediction either the tree or geometry window.


    The Petal Test dialog box appears.

    Note: Selecting a posture prediction for a driver when it is not associated to a manikin in the Interaction Scenario dialog box, an error is displayed. The error, Posture prediction not assigned to any manikin scenario. When a posture prediction for a passenger is selected then a message appears, the Selected posture prediction is not for the driver as you are informed of an invalid selection.

  3. Select your requirements in the Pedal Test dialog box.
  4. Click Compute.

    The pedal test evaluates and the results field populates with the result of the pedal test. The visualization of the minimum distance from the center of the pedal to the ball of foot (BOF) of the assigned manikin displays. A clash curve as shown in red indicates the first clash between the foot and the pedal. The test stops assuming a solution is available when any portion of the foot collides with the pedal. If the collision is within the preferred zone, then the clash curve visualizes in green. The pedal status field in the Result section of the dialog has a green icon. Otherwise red.

    Note: The pedal test can be assigned to the scenario through the Interactions Scenario dialog box and the assigned pedal test can be modified by clicking the Feet Optimizations column. The pedal test can select the group of tests that creates in the Posture Prediction representation feature.

  5. Click Auto Update Manikin Interactions from the Posture action bar.
    The pedal test runs and the results appear in the result panel of the update command.
    Note: This panel appears only when there are no errors reported in the update command. If there are any errors reported, then this panel is displayed in minimized mode and can maximize by clicking the minimized panel on the right-hand portion.
