Examine Options

This task provides you with the description of the options for the Examine command.

Before you begin: The Examine command behavior can be customized because of the:
  • MX1_Options.CATRsc file in Collaboration Environment
  • SMT_Options.CATRsc file in SmarTeam.

This file can be found in the win_b64\resources\msgcatalog directory of your X-CAD Design Management connector install path.

The following three modes are available to customize the Examine command:

  1. If the EXAMINE_EXPAND_ALL="ACTIVATED" mode is activated, launching the Examine command will always result in:
    • expanding the whole of the selected object

    • showing the CGRs of the terminal objects only (and not those of the root and intermediate Products).

  2. If the EXAMINE_EXPAND_ALL="DEACTIVATED" mode is activated, launching the Examine command will always result in:
    • expanding the selected object not being allowed

    • showing the CGR of the selected object only.

  3. If the EXAMINE_EXPAND_ALL="INTELLIGENT" mode is activated, launching the Examine command will behave depending on the application and window in which Examine is launched:
    1. If the current application is 3DLive Examine or the window is in In Place mode, then launching the Examine command will result in:
      • expanding the whole of the selected object
      • showing the CGRs of the terminal objects only (those of the root and intermediate Products are not shown).
    2. If the current application is not in 3DLive Examine or the window is not in In Place mode, then launching the Examine command will result in:
      • expanding the selected object not being allowed
      • showing the CGR of the selected object only.

Important: The INTELLIGENT mode is activated by default. If position information is not found when Expand All is performed, the warning dialog box is displayed.

If position matrices are not available in the MatrixOne server (not CATIA files), the CGR displayed in Examine command will be that of the selected Part and not all CGRs that make up the Part. The consequences are as follows:

  • The Hide/Show command is of no use (only one geometry).

  • Annotation, measure, section are still usable.

  • The DMU reviews created by the user cannot be saved. Nevertheless, the user can collaborate and exchange the review with his or her collaborators.

  • FTA will only be available in Examine mode if the Save level of details in cgr option in the General section of the Option window and the Save 3D annotation representations in cgr option in the Applicative Data section of the Option window were activated during CATIA Save.
