Removing IP from a Product

Use Remove IP to filter a product without creating a new part.

In a typical scenario, you create a product with IP, which you duplicate and filter to remove IP before sharing it with others. Remove IP filters the duplicate product and keeps the link between the filter result and the original product.

  1. Select the product from which the IP is removed.

Note: Make sure all 3DParts and associated features are up to date.

    • Remove IP converts all 3DParts to products.
    • All solid and surface features from the original 3DShape are copied and pasted to a temporary 3DShape.

This temporary 3DShape is specified as a share representation and inserted back in the original product. IP is removed from this 3DShape.

The original 3DShape is deleted. Its name is assigned to the instantiated 3DShape.

    • Inside the 3DShape, Remove IP processes Bodies, Geometrical Sets and Ordered Geometrical Sets.
      • A copy/paste as result is applied to
        • Wireframe, surface, and volume features from Generative Shape Design
        • PartBody features
        • Contextual features. Their order is not guaranteed.
      • A copy/past as result with link is applied to sketches. Then sketches are isolated.
      • A single solid is created for each Boolean feature.
      • Deactivated features and features without results are not kept.
    • IP Information such as parameters and relations, publications, layers, and filters, materials, engineering connections are always removed.
  2. Select additional options.

All check boxes are cleared by default.

    • Remove hidden instances: An instance is hidden if all its occurrences are hidden.
    • Remove hidden features
    • Color
      • If the check box is cleared, the result takes the default colors.
      • If the check box is selected, the colors are taken either from the container or from overloaded faces, according to your choice.
Note: Container is selected by default.
    • Disassemble By Domain: Applies to Generative Shape Design features only. If a feature contains several domains, a datum feature is created for each domain.
    • Remove Absorbed Features: Absorbed features are hidden.
Note: If Remove hidden features is selected and Remove Absorbed Features is not, absorbed features are kept.
    • Keep 2D Layout. All views are kept. Use-edge Inputs and projection geometry are not kept.
    • Keep Annotation: Refers to 3D Tolerancing & Annotation.
    • Keep Layer and Filter
    • Keep Material: Applies the material from the source product to the filtered product.
