About the Selection Tool

The selection tool consists in a panel that lets you define a selection either in guided mode or advanced mode. To define the selection, you specify the scope search (Search in) that can be the entire model (global model) or a portion of the model (selection), choose the most relevant criterion or set of criteria, add a value if this applies (Value) and the selection tool automatically retrieves the matching result.

Understand Criteria

Once you selected the scope of your search, either the entire model or a portion of it, you can specify a set of criteria.

The criteria list provides all available criteria for the current search that will result in the selection. Criteria are organized in information types:

Textual Information
Numerical Information

The table below summarizes the available criteria per information type.


Information Type	Criteria
Textual	name (name of the product in the tree) name of material (if any)
Numerical	size (diameter of the bounding sphere) number of triangles (for the associated geometry) density: gives the average density of triangles in a representation compared to the other representations. Area (global area of the geometry's surface)

Understand Operators

The operator drop-down list automatically reflects the information type of the selected criteria.

The example table below summarizes the available operators according to the selected type of criteria.

Prior to launching the query (clicking Start Query), you can specify the attribute value for the operator (Value). Some operators do not require values, such as Min and Max functions, In this case, the value field is unavailable.

Add and Remove Constraints

You can add or remove constraints to your request clicking the dedicated buttons.

To add a constraint, click .
To remove a constraint, click .
To combine constraints or apply a single constraint, select And or Or in the list.

Note: The and takes priority over the or. [condition1 and condition2 or condition3] is equivalent to [(condition1 and condition2) or condition3]. When using the selection tool in advance mode, you can add parenthesis to modify the and priority.
