Viewing Documents in Native Applications

Opening Documents in Their Native Applications

You can open a document in its native editor.

  1. Select an assembly with documents and expand the product structure.
  2. Right-click a document in the product structure and click Open.
The document opens in its native editor.
Note: When you select Open, the document is copied out from the vault to a temporary file and launched in the appropriate editor. Note: For Word, Excel and PowerPoint file types (*.doc, *.xls, *.ppt) the document is automatically checked out, given an unique temporary file name, and opened in its respective native editor.
  3. From the File Chooser dialog box, select the location to store the file you want to open and click Save.
