Extracting Data from a Cloud of Points

You can extract the visible points from a cloud of points to create a new cloud of points.

Statistics at each step in the examples below are shown for comprehension purpose. In real cases, you do not need to display them.

Extract Data from a Cloud of Points

You can extract data from a cloud of points.

  1. Right-click a cloud of points and select Properties.
    1. Click the Information tab and note the number of its visible points.
    2. Click Close to exit the Properties dialog box.
  2. From the Digitized Data section of the action bar, click Filter and filter the cloud. Then verify the information of the cloud.
    The number of visible points has decreased.
  3. Right-click the cloud of points and select Extract Data.
    An Extract (name-of-original_cloud).x element is created with only visible points of the initial cloud.

Extract Data from a Mesh

You can extract data from a mesh.

  1. Select a mesh and verify its number of visible points.
  2. Activate a portion of the mesh and verify its number of visible points.
  3. Right-click the mesh and select Extract Data.
    An Extract (name-of-original_mesh).x element is created with the visible points of the original mesh.
