Filtering a Cloud

Use Filter to filter a cloud of points (not a mesh) by hiding unwanted points.

  1. Select Homogeneous method to hide points equally everywhere on the cloud of points.

    • A virtual sphere passes over the cloud of points, starting on the first point met.
    • All the points that are inside this sphere are hidden.
    • The sphere goes to the next remaining point and removes the points that it contains, and so on.

    1. Position the sphere by a click.
    2. Edit the sphere radius to hide more or less points.
  2. Select Adaptative to hide more points from the planar areas than from other areas, and highlight bent areas.
    1. Select Max. Distance to control the distance between remaining points, thus preserving the shape of the part.

Max. Distance is visualized by a sphere.

    2. Click Apply to start a filtering.
    3. Repeat as required.
  3. Check the filtering results under Statistics.
  4. Select Physical Removal to permanently remove hidden points.
  5. Select Reset to retrieve all hidden points.

Warning: Physically removed points are not retrieved.
