Creating a Mesh

Mesh Creation creates a 2D mesh or 3D mesh from a cloud of points, or regenerates a mesh from an existing mesh.

  1. Select a cloud of points or an existing mesh.

By default, 3D Mesher is selected, suitable for complicated shapes.

  2. To reduce the number of triangles computed on dense clouds, select the Sag check box and edit its value.
  3. Alternatively, for simple objects that can be projected onto a single plane, select 2D Mesher.
  4. A plane is required to compute the 2D meshing.
    • Select one main plane.
    • Or define one using the Robot.
    • Or keep the plane proposed by default.
  5. Optional: Select the Constrained check box to obtain a boundary continuity with contiguousmeshes.
  6. Set Neighborhood as required to leave areas unmeshed, or not.

Represented by a sphere, it is an approximation of the maximal edge length of displayed triangles.

  7. Select required options to display the mesh within the command.

Smooth is useful to find overlaps, or incoherent orientation of facets normals.
