Defining Pins

You can apply a pin connection to model a cylindrical pin inside the cylindrical face of a rotating outer part.

Support Selection
  1. From the Connections section of the action bar, click Pin .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select Support 1 and Support 2 as the geometry supports to be connected.

One support is the outside face of the cylindrical pin and the other is the surrounding (inner) face of the outer part. You can only select cylindrical surfaces for the supports. You can select only a single part as the outer part, but it may have multiple cylindrical holes, for example a hinge plate.

  4. Optional: Enter a value for the Torsional stiffness.

Torsion is the twisting of an object due to an applied torque. By default, the pin has a very small amount of elasticity for torsion (rotation about its axis). You can use the Torsional stiffness value to change this default elasticity.

  5. Click OK.
