Breaking and Trimming Elements

Quick Trim quickly deletes elements intersected by other elements using the breaking and trimming operations.

  1. Select one of the following options from the Tool Palette.

    Option Result
    Break And Rubber In

The inner part of the selection is trimmed.

    Break And Rubber Out

The outer part of the selection is trimmed.

    Break And Keep

The selected feature is broken into number of intersecting elements.

Coincidence constraints are created after the trimming/breaking of the features.

Important: You cannot apply Quick Trim and/or Break to composite curves (which are the projected/intersected elements composed of several curves). However, you can work around this functional restriction by trimming elements (this enables you to get the same results for composite curves as by performing the Quick Trim and the Break operations).

  2. Optional: Click Free Hand Selection to select and trim multiple elements.

Tip: Press and hold Shift to move the pointer over certain parts of the sketch without considering it for trimming.
