About Reviewing 2D Data

This topic contains information useful while creating reviews for the drawings, diagram layouts and their sheets.

This page discusses:

About Reviewing Drawings

The following points are important while creating a review for a drawing:

  • If you drop a review in the widget and the widget already contains a drawing, the review must be associated with this drawing.
  • If the file contains several sheets, the first sheet is activated by default. Only one sheet can be active at a time in the session.
  • If you switch from one sheet to another, the view is reframed, meaning the view focuses on the entire model to fit in the viewer and simultaneously maximizes the use of the viewer space.
  • If a review linked to a drawing is opened while some other 2D or 3D data is present in the session, the review must be linked to the present data. In this case, any pre-existing review in the session is removed. The new review opens and its last slide is activated.
  • If a review linked to a drawing is opened while another 2D or 3D review is already present in the session. In this case, any pre-existing review in the session is removed. The new review will be displayed.
  • If you switch to another widget while a drawing is open in Design Review for Dashboard, the drawing is removed from the session and the new widget opens without any data loaded in it.
  • When you switch to Design Review for Dashboard from another widget containing a drawing, the drawing is removed.

About Reviewing Diagram Layouts

The following points are useful while creating a review for a diagram layout or diagram sheet:

  • A diagram layout must have at least one sheet otherwise the layout cannot be loaded.
  • Every sheet must have a UDL stream. Otherwise the layout is loaded and a warning is displayed.
  • If the file contains several sheets, the first sheet is activated by default. Only one sheet can be active at a time in the session.
  • If a review linked to a layout or a sheet is opened while some other 2D or 3D data is present in the session, the behavior is the same as that for a drawing.
  • If a review linked to a layout or a sheet is opened while some other review is present in the session, the behavior is the same as that for a drawing.
  • If you switch to a different widget while a diagram layout or a sheet is open in Design Review for Dashboard, the layout or the sheet is removed from the session and the new widget opens without any data loaded in it.
  • When you switch to Design Review for Dashboard from another functional widget containing a diagram layout, the layout is removed.
  • You can select one or more sheets, views, components, or symbols from a logical (FL) diagram.
  • The properties of the instances and references of the selected elements are displayed in the side panel and in the Properties dialog box
  • You can switch to different levels of the FL diagram instance structure and select different instances, using the level selector available in the context toolbar.
  • Whenever one or several symbols are dropped in Design Review for Dashboard, a picture marker is created for each symbol displaying the following:
    • The representation of the dropped symbol
    • The label at the bottom with the symbol information
  • For symbols containing specific information, a custom preview is displayed instead of the symbol representation, and the symbol is displayed as the symbol name.
  • If N symbols are dropped, N picture markers are created and placed overlapping each other.
  • You can drag a symbol pointed by the picture marker by dragging the label of the picture marker.

About Reviewing DXF or DWG Files

  • You can work with DXF or DWG files (inserted in a document) and reviews linked to these files only on the cloud.
  • If the file contains several sheets, the first sheet is activated by default. Only one sheet can be active at a time in the session.
  • You can open a document containing multiple DXF or DWG files. But you can create a review linked to only one of these files. Select the required file before creating the review.
  • Any previously loaded data is removed from the widget before loading the DXF or DWG file.
  • If the context DXF or DWG file is updated, the updated version is loaded in the widget even if the review in the session was created on the older version.
  • For a review, if the context DXF or DWG file does not exist in the document, you are requested to select a different file.
