Creating a Logical Reference

The logical references that you create in Logical Product Definition have basic attributes such as a name, owner, and revision. You can add child logical references to it, and perform other tasks. The logical references that you create in Logical Product Definition start in the In Work state.

  1. From the toolbar, click + and select New Logical Reference.
    • To create a reference under a logical reference, select the required logical reference and click + and select New Logical Reference.
    • To create a logical reference under a child logical reference, right-click the required logical reference and select Insert New > Logical Reference.

    Note: Insert command is valid on root logical reference.

    The Create New Logical Reference dialog box appears.
  2. Modify or confirm the title of the new logical reference.

    Note: If the title field is empty, the item is created with default title value.

  3. Select Sub-type.

    Note: You can choose a subtype for a logical reference from the available options. If you do not select anything by default a logical reference subtype is created.

  4. Click Create and Open.

The logical reference is created as a root and shown in the grid view.
