Managing Effectivity

You can define and edit the effectivity of a logical reference instance.

This task shows you how to:

Set Effectivity

You can define the effectivity of a logical reference based on the attached model.

Right-click the required logical reference and select Set Effectivities and do one of the following.
  • Select Edit Variants and Options to choose from variants available based on the attached model .
  • Select Edit Evolution to define or change the evolution effectivity of the instance.

  • Select Extend Evolution to extend the evolution effectivity if already set on an instance.
    Note: Ensure to have the following before selecting this option:
    • A model with a model version with variants (active state) and variant values.
    • The instance has existing Evolution effectivity.
    • You are working under the change action.
    • There is an existing change action in the In Work lifecycle state.
    • The change action's applicability is set to the extended scope that you want to use for the instance.

    The grid view is updated with the latest values once the extend evolution is completed.

    The extend evolution effectivity can be done on multiple instances at once. The operation fails with an error message if any one of them cannot extend effectivity.

Edit Inline Effectivity

You can edit the variant/option effectivity value for a logical reference instance using inline editing.

Before you begin: Ensure that you have:
  • The Variant/Option column from Custom Views of the grid view. The command is also available in the context menu of each column header.
  • A logical reference with model attached.
  1. Select the required logical reference and click Variant/Option column value.

    Note: You see the value as None if an effectivity has not been set.
    The column value is displayed as a hyperlink.

  2. In the EffectivityInlineEditor, define the required effectivity value and click OK
    A success message is displayed and the effectivity value is refreshed.
