Reparenting Logical Reference

You can move a child from one parent node to another parent node in a structure.

Before you begin: Reparenting of a child reference follows the below rules. A Logical Reference is kept unchanged. So:
  • Architecture number is unchanged.
  • Customized attributes are reported and the values are to be retained according to metadata.
  • Reference-Reference implement links are retained.
  • Instance-Instance Implement links are not retained
  • Document attachments (Doc and Spec) are retained.
  • Proposed Solutions are retained.
  • Design space assignment is retained.
  1. Right-click the selected child instance under a node and click Select To Reparent.
    The success message appears and the logical reference is saved for reparenting.
  2. Right-click a logical reference as a new parent and click Reparent Action.

    Do one of the following.

    • Select Select As New Parent to move the selected Logical Reference.
    • Select Clear Selection to clear the saved reparenting Logical Reference.

    The confirmation window opens.
  3. Click Reparent.
    The success message is displayed and the grid view is updated.
    Note:
    • In case there is an active Work Under Evolution in the context, then the ‘after reparent’ structure is Effective to only that Evolution.
    • This functionality is only possible when the Current Parent and the new Parent (must) have the same Model (config context) attached.
