DesignSync Connector Configuration: Add/Edit Server

You can add defintions for all the DesignSync servers that host repositories used by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform applications through the connectors. You can edit these definitions to correct any issues or to make additional modules or categories available.

This page discusses:

Validate DesignSync Connector Configuration

To validate the settings , select Validate. Validate displays field errors in red. If a specified category does not exist, Validate changes the field to orange.

Note: Unvalidated categories are not an error at configuration time, because categories can be added to a server later. They only need to exist when creating a connection specifically to an item in your 3DEXPERIENCE platform app.

Table 1. Status Messages
Configuration Status Message Description
The server configuration has not been validated. The server configuration has not yet been validated.
Changes made to settings but not yet saved Validate the connector changes. If all the fields are entered, click Validate.
Validating URLs... The connector is in the process of validating the settings. Wait until the validation is complete.
SUCCESS - All settings validated and no changes need saving. The connector is configured and validated. Select Ok to close the form.
ERROR - one or more settings have problems The connector did not successfully validate. The error messages listed provides guidance for how to correct the error.

Add/Edit Server

This section defines the server properties of the DesignSync server. To close this page without making any changes, select Cancel. To save the settings, select Validate, resolve any issues, and select Ok.

Field Description
DesignSync Server URL SyncServer URL, including port number, for the server containing as a repository for the connected application data. URL is specified as follows:
sync://<host>[:<port>]
 syncs://<host>[:<port>]
where 'sync://' or 'syncs://' are required, <host> is the machine on which the SyncServer is installed, and <port> is the SyncServer port number (The default port number is 2647/2679.). For example: sync://serv1.ABCo.com:2647
DesignSync Tools Path Location to a DeisgnSync installation available to the machine hosting the connector. This can be a shared NFS drive, or a local drive on the connector machine, if the machine has a DesignSync installation. For example:
/home/user/syncinc/linux_a64
Username Username of an account that can perform operations on the DesignSync server. The account does not need to be the sync manager account, but it must have the appropriate access permissions for modules and categories being accessed by the connected application.
Password Password for the user account.
SYNC_CUSTOM_DIR

Path to the server customization area. This area is where all the customizations for DesignSync components are stored. By default, DesignSync uses $SYNC_DIR/custom as the default custom directory location. If you are using any other location for your custom directory, you must specify the SYNC_CUSTOM_DIR path.

SYNC_SITE_CUSTOM Path to the site custom area.  The default value is $SYNC_CUSTOM_DIR/site. If you are using a different site directory than the default, you must specify the SYNC_SITE_CUSTOM path
SYNC_SITE_CNFG_DIR

Path to the site custom configuration area. This is used, among other things, to store licensing information. The default value is $SYNC_SITE_CUSTOM/config. If you are using a different site directory than the default, you must specify the SYNC_SITE_CNFG_DIR path

Module and Category Configuration

The table displays a list of the modules and module categories that are already configured for use. Use the select checkbox to select any Configured Modules or Categories to remove.

Field Description
Category or Module Path Type the relative path to the module or module category to be added. If you add a category, all modules within the category that the user specified for the server has permission to see are available to the connected application. To select all modules on a server, type:
/Modules
Add Adds a newline to the table for you to enter a new module or module category path.
Delete Removes the selected Configured Modules or Categories entry.
