Managing Answer Items

Based on the value of Has Answer Items in the request template, you can add and remove answer items. Answer Items can be added or removed in the Under Review or Under Implementation maturity state.

Note: Depending on the maturity state of the answer item, you can drag objects and add them as an answer item.

Add a New Component Request

You can create a component request and add it as an answer item to an existing component request that is in the Submitted, Under Review, and Under Implementation states.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Component Request > New Component Request.
  2. From the New Component Request wizard, enter the details to create a component request.

    You must select the input items and attachments from the parent component request on the Request Details and Attachments steps. For more information, see Creating Component Requests.

Add an Existing Component Request

You can add an existing component request as an answer item to a component request.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Component Request > Existing Component Request.

    Note: All existing answer items display except those in the Obsolete state.

  2. From 3DSearch, select the component request to add.

Add an Existing Engineering Item

You can add an engineering item as an answer item to a component request.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Engineering Item > Existing Engineering Item.

    Note: All existing answer items display except those in the Obsolete state.

  2. From 3DSearch, select the engineering item to add.

Add an Existing Manufacturer Equivalent Item

You can add a manufacturer equivalent items as an answer item to a component request.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Engineering Item > Existing Manufacturer Equivalent Item.

    Note: All existing answer items display except those in the Obsolete state.

  2. From 3DSearch, select the manufacturer equivalent item to add.

Add an Existing Qualification

You can add a qualification as an answer item to a component request.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Qualification > Existing Qualification.

    Note: All existing answer items display except those in the Obsolete state.

  2. From 3DSearch, select the qualification to add.

Add an Existing Attachment

You can add an attachment as an answer item to a component request.

  1. From the Answer Items toolbar, click Add > Attachment > Existing Attachment.

    Note: All existing answer items display except those in the Obsolete state.

  2. From 3DSearch, select the attachment to add.

Remove an Answer Item

You can remove an answer item from a component request.

  1. Select the answer item that you want to remove.
  2. Click Remove on the page toolbar.

    You can also remove the answer items from the context menu. Select the answer item to remove, click or right-click, and select Remove.
