About Using Change Objects to Resolve Issues

You can use change actions, change orders, or change requests when resolving an issue by adding them to the Resolved By list on the Related Objects tab of the issue. The maturity state of the issue depends on the maturity state of the change objects used to resolve it.

For information on using change objects, see Change Management.

If you attach one or more change actions, change orders, or change requests to an issue, Issue Management uses the maturity state of the attached change objects to manage the maturity state of the issue.

When working with an issue that uses a change object to resolve it:

  • If a resolving change action is promoted to In Work, the issue is automatically promoted to In Work if not already in that state.
  • If any of the resolving change objects are in the In Work state, you cannot demote the issue to Draft or To Do.
  • If all of the resolving change objects are in the Complete state, the issue is automatically promoted to the In Approval state.
  • If all of the resolving change objects are not in the Complete state, the issue cannot be promoted to the In Approval state.

If there is a state blocking condition for the issue, such as a route that needs to be completed, the automatic promotion is not made.

Issue Management does not tie the maturity state of issues to any other type of objects used that could be used to resolve the issue.
