Create a Portfolio
You can create a portfolio not based on any existing object.

To create a new portfolio, depending on your context, do one of the
following:

Enter a user-friendly title for the portfolio.

Enter a detailed description for the portfolio.

To add an image, do one of the following:

- Browse to, then select the image.
- Click Open.

Optional: From the Portfolio Type list,
select the type of portfolio to create.
Note:
This field only appears if you can create more than one type of
portfolio.

To create the portfolio, do one of the following:

portfolio is created. The dialog box remains open so
that you can create another portfolio by changing

Note:
The Create another command is not available
when you create a portfolio from the Portfolio Definition
home page. In that context, when you click Create, the
app creates a single item then closes the dialog box.
Create a Portfolio Based on an Existing Portfolio Version
You can create a portfolio based on an existing portfolio. The new portfolio
contains all of the content of the portfolio on which it is based.

To create a new portfolio, depending on your context, do one of the

Create a Portfolio Within a Portfolio
You can create a portfolio within an existing portfolio. It becomes part of
the contents of that portfolio.

Open the portfolio in which you want to create the new portfolio.

The new portfolio version is created and appears in the
content list of the portfolio version in which it was created.
Create a Portfolio from a Variant Portfolio
You can create a portfolio based on a variant portfolio created in Variant Management. The new portfolio contains all of the content of the portfolio on which it is
based, but it is not connected to it.

To select the portfolio to inherit from, in the Create
From field, do one of the following:
- Click , then from the 3DSearch results, select a variant portfolio.
- Start entering the variant portfolio's title in the search field,
then select it from the filtered list.

Optional: From the Portfolio Type list,
select the type of portfolio to create.

Create a Portfolio from a Variant Product Line
You can create a portfolio based on a variant product line created in Variant Management. You can select which content from the variant product line to exclude from the
new portfolio.

Do not enter a title, description, or image for the new portfolio.
These attributes are imported from the variant product line that you are
basing the portfolio on. If you enter them, your entries are not used by the
new portfolio.

To select the variant product line to inherit from, in the
Create From field, do one of the following:
- Click , then from the 3DSearch results, select a variant product line.
- Start entering the variant product line's title in the search field,
then select it from the filtered list.

From the 3DSearch results or list, select the variant product line on which you want to
base the new portfolio, then click OK.
The New Portfolios from <Product Line
Name> dialog box opens. The model versions associated with
the models in the variant product line are listed if they are not in the
Obsolete maturity state. They are all selected by default.

Optional: From the Portfolio Type list,
select the type of portfolio to create.
Note:
This field only appears if you can create more than one type of
portfolio.

Do one of the following:

versions and subproduct lines from the variant product
line in the new portfolio |
Click Create. |
You want to specify which model versions and
subproduct lines from the variant product line that you
want to include in the new portfolio |
- In the Create column of
any model version or subproduct line that you
do not want to include
in the new portfolio, double-click . The check box is activated.
- Click to clear the check box.
- Click out of the row. The icon is displayed in the column to indicate
that the model version or subproduct line is not
be included in the contents of the new
portfolio.
- Click Create.

The new portfolio is created and opens. All model
versions and sub portfolios that you did not specifically exclude are included in
the contents of the new portfolio.
