Validating Your Account

If your Administrator enabled the email validation option, you can validate your account with a link provided in the email you received.

After creating a 3DEXPERIENCE ID (or account), you can automatically log in without validating your email address, and can access the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform if you have been invited.

Validation can be required in a variety of contexts. The Administratorcan also send a new validation link for security reasons. In this case, follow these steps. Any previous link will be invalidated.

When a 3DEXPERIENCE ID is created or updated, notification emails sent by the 3DPassport service will provide:

  • A one-time-use, time-limited link to validate the account
  • A one-time-use link to delete a created account and archive the username and email address (only usable if the account has not already been validated)
  • A one-time-use link to recover a previously deleted account.

General rules regarding the use and validity of the links in the emails:

  • Authenticate first to be able to use a validation link
  • If a validation/deletion link has already been used once, it is automatically invalidated
  • If a validation link has been successfully used, the deletion link is invalidated automatically
  • validation/deletion links automatically expire after one week
  • if you request a new validation email, the current validation/deletion links are automatically invalidated.
Note: All links (validation, deletion and reset e-mail/password) have a hard timeout set to one week.

When your account has been validated, the database is updated, and other apps plugged into 3DPassport will be informed that you have validated your account, enabling them to control access. This is a very useful preparatory step for future uses.

The rest of this section describes the different situations that can occur which require email validation of accounts. In each case, the Administrator has enabled the email validation feature.

This task shows you how to:

Register and validate a new Account

Before you begin: You must have received an email with a link to validate your account:
Click the first link to validate your account.
You receive a confirmation email and a validation notification is displayed.

You can now connect to the application.

Request a validation email from your account profile

If you have not already validated your account, you can still do so through your profile. You have the possibility to edit your 3DEXPERIENCE ID profile at any time.

  1. In the My 3DEXPERIENCE ID page, click Send validation email.

A notification is displayed and you receive an email.

    The email contains:

    • a link to validate your account
    • a link to immediately reset and change your password, in case your account has been compromised
    • a link to request the deletion of your account.
  2. Click the first link to validate your account.

Delete an account registered by a usurper

A usurper may have used your email address to create an account. The usurper authenticates using the account and attempts to access an app: the app refuses access because the account has not been validated. In the meantime, as the real owner of the email address, you will receive a notification email regarding the registration of the new account performed by the usurper.

  1. Click the links provided in the email to delete the usurper's account.
Deleting the account will automatically archive the username and email used to create the account, so nobody else can create an account with these credentials in the future.
  2. To recover the usage of your email addres in 3DPassport:

If you are using a public cloud, you can contact your local support team to submit a request to recover your email address usage.

If you are operating an On Premises solution or a virtual private cloud (VPC), submit your request to the 3DPassport administrator.

You will be able to create an account using your email address.

Update your email address

You can update your email address.

  1. In your 3DEXPERIENCE ID, change the email address.
  2. Click Update.
Two notifications will be sent: one to the previous email address, and one to the new email address.

If you dit not actually update the email address, you will be able to force an e-mail/password reset using the dedicated link provided in the notification email you received. Resetting is still possible even if the new email set by the usurper has been validated.

Note: After changing the email address and validating the new email address, if you reset the account to the previous address, the account remains validated: the reset process does not the change the validation status of an account.

After you click the dedicated reset password link in the mail:

    • the update password page will open
    • once you have updated your password successfully, the previous email address will be restored and you will receive a password update mail.
