Accessing Installed User Assistance

The default online user assistance is available online on help.3ds.com. However it is possible to install the user assistance, and then to use it for contextual help.

This task shows you how to:

Access Installed User Assistance for Native Apps

The user assistance can be installed either at the same time as you install the code, or later after the code has been installed.

For more information, see Installation and Setup: Install: 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Installing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Services for the First Time: Installing Services One-by-One: Native Apps: Installing the Documentation.

In native apps, to access the installed user assistance instead of the default online one, you must first contact your administrator to get the URL of the installed document server.

Before you begin: The language value (English, French, Japanese, and so on) is mandatory when the user assistance is accessed directly by entering its URL in a web browser, but it must be omitted to specify the user assistance URL for contextual help purpose.
Do one of the following:
  • Update the CATDocView variable in your environment to reference the URL of the installed document server.
  • Select Me > Preferences > Common Preferences > Deployment and Administration > Platform Access > Help to customize options. Then, clear the Online box and update the Location box with the URL of the installed document server.

Access Installed User Assistance for Dashboard Apps

You can access the user assistance from any dashboard app.

Context: On premises and dedicated cloud only.

For more information, see the 3DEXPERIENCE User Assistance Setting option in Platform Management User's Guide: Platform Management Dashboard.
