Holding/Resuming a Change Order

You can place change orders (fast track and formal) on hold.

Required Access Roles: The CO initiator can place a fast track CO on hold only from the Draft state. The CO initiator or Change Coordinator can place a formal CO on hold before the Evaluation Review state. Only the owner can place a CO on hold and only before the CO is in the In Work state.

  • When a CO is placed on hold, all information regarding the CO state, owner, and associated CAs are retained.
  • All Assignees and Senior Assignees, distribution list members, approver list members, owner, and the CO originator are notified that the CO and associated objects have been placed on hold. The same notifications are sent when the CO resumes.
  • COs that are on hold can be resumed with all of their connected objects (whereas Canceled COs cannot be resumed).
  • You can cancel a CO that is on hold.

  1. From the page toolbar of the change order Properties page, click Hold.

    Field Description
Warning This will halt the CO's lifecycle and hold the change management process for its connected items. Enter a reason and click Done or click Cancel for the CO to continue through its lifecycle.
Reason Type details about why you are placing the CO on hold.

  2. Click Done.

  • The CO is moved to the On Hold state and notifications are sent to all contributors and Approvers, Informed user list, and approver list members, as well as the CO originator.
  • The Hold icon is replaced with the Resume icon, so the owner can return the CO to its previous state, including attributes and related CAs. When you click Resume, notifications are sent to all contributors and Approvers, Informed user list and approver list members, and the CO originator.
