Using Change-Based Collaboration

Change-based collaboration enables users to collaborate changes between an EBOM and its corresponding product structure using change actions.

Change-based collaboration is turned off by default if:

  • There are no change actions in the database; typically, for a new installation.
  • The change actions in the database, if any, do not have an associated object such as a proposed or realized change.

Context:

Note: Change-based collaboration affects these features:
  • To enable change object dependency, you must turn on change-based collaboration.
  • To enable users to transfer realized changes from one change action to another, you must turn off change-based collaboration.
  • Phantom collaboration intention is not supported with change-based collaboration turned on. To use phantom collaboration intention, turn off change-based collaboration between the physical product and the EBOM.

To turn on change-based collaboration:

  1. In the 3DDashboard Platform Manager, select the Content Management tab.
  2. In the left-hand side menu, select Engineering Part Automation. The Engineering Part Automation window appears.
  3. Under EBOM-Product Structure Collaboration, select the check box for Change Collaboration for EBOM-Product Structure.

To turn off change-based collaboration, clear the check box for Change Collaboration for EBOM-Product Structure.

Note: A red icon may appear when you select the Change Collaboration for EBOM-Product Structure check box. This icon means that your database contains one or more change actions and the administrator has not run the change-based synchronization script since migrating data from an earlier release. If you leave the check box checked, an orange icon will display whenever you log in again. This indicates that a change action remains in the database and the script has not been run. After the script is run, the icon will be green.
